Jemma's Room

We've been putting off painting Jemma's room. The main thing was to get Jaxon's room done which we did. Then we got all the stuff out in Jemma's room and we had a pretty big list of other stuff to get done during spring break so my theory was that we could paint the room after she got here. I was planning on her sleeping in the bassinet in our room for awhile anyway like we did with Jaxon so it wasn't like she was going to be in the room for awhile so waiting seemed fine.
Of course we've been discussing our plans for the room and what we'd like to do. Blake was getting excited and wanting to do it which was good because there was no way I could paint right now with the way my back feels. Then my mom started sending us some ideas from etsy.com to do in the room. She sent us some decals of trees you can put on the wall that were really cute but our walls are very textured so they wouldn't work on there. So we pieced together some ideas. My parent's came out for a day to help and you can see the results.
On Friday, Blake got the whole room repainted. He was pretty impressed with himself that he got it done in one day especially considering he had to tape off for the stripes. I was going to leave the blue and green stripes because they were such a pain and I felt bad since I wasn't helping but Blake wasn't having it. The artist in him couldn't stand to leave the blue.

Then Saturday Blake drew the tree branch and my mom painted it. The flowers she painted free hand.

Jaxon and I started on the wooden circles and letters in Jemma's name and Blake helped us finish it up.

Jaxon got a little sad when Blake first started to paint and said he missed his old room. We told him that was OK to miss it. It made Blake and I a little sad also thinking of him being a tiny little baby when we painted it and how long it has been his room. But we're all so excited for Jemma to get here. Jaxon likes the new room also and of course he still loves his room. He's still in the phase of wanting to keep it clean. We'll see how long that lasts!

  1. Wow!! How darling....nice color and the art work is out of this world. So special that Grandma and Dad have such a God given talent and they use it!!! Jaxon's help is just classic....he loves that little sister and will be the very best big brother. I guess it is time for Jemma to make her appearance anytime.....it is ready!!! Love you all....Granny
