Ranch is the New Ketchup

When I was little I used ketchup on almost everything to make it taste better - grilled cheese, macaroni and cheese, scrambled eggs, sandwiches, hamburgers, hot dogs, etc... For Jaxon it is all about the Ranch. He will dip about anything in it. It works for me as long as he eats it. When I see him at lunch at school there is always ranch all over it no matter what they've had. The weirdest one I think is bacon. He loves having bacon and dipping it in ranch.
So here's a short list of what I can think off the top of my head he dips in ranch so I can remember when he's older. Some are normal and some are a little strange.
Cooked broccoli, bacon, french fries, cucumbers, carrots, sandwiches, chips, then there's all the stuff at school I don't see that he dips it in.

Jammin

I thought this was a funny picture of Jaxon. He had his music on his iPod Shuffle and was holding his player like a boombox. It reminded me of back in the day the how people would hold the huge boomboxes and now look at the size.

Writing Numbers

One school day before spring break, when I went to pick up my students I went over to say hi to Jaxon like I always do. I asked him if he'd been good that day. He said yes but then he got really serious and said, "Mom I can't write my numbers to 100." He said it like he was in trouble. His teacher had been doing some testing before conferences to see where the students were at. I told him it was fine but we could practice at home if he wanted. So since he was motivated we practiced and he started to see the pattern. He was so excited he had to show everyone. Here he is working on it.

Jemma's Room

We've been putting off painting Jemma's room. The main thing was to get Jaxon's room done which we did. Then we got all the stuff out in Jemma's room and we had a pretty big list of other stuff to get done during spring break so my theory was that we could paint the room after she got here. I was planning on her sleeping in the bassinet in our room for awhile anyway like we did with Jaxon so it wasn't like she was going to be in the room for awhile so waiting seemed fine.
Of course we've been discussing our plans for the room and what we'd like to do. Blake was getting excited and wanting to do it which was good because there was no way I could paint right now with the way my back feels. Then my mom started sending us some ideas from etsy.com to do in the room. She sent us some decals of trees you can put on the wall that were really cute but our walls are very textured so they wouldn't work on there. So we pieced together some ideas. My parent's came out for a day to help and you can see the results.
On Friday, Blake got the whole room repainted. He was pretty impressed with himself that he got it done in one day especially considering he had to tape off for the stripes. I was going to leave the blue and green stripes because they were such a pain and I felt bad since I wasn't helping but Blake wasn't having it. The artist in him couldn't stand to leave the blue.

Then Saturday Blake drew the tree branch and my mom painted it. The flowers she painted free hand.

Jaxon got a little sad when Blake first started to paint and said he missed his old room. We told him that was OK to miss it. It made Blake and I a little sad also thinking of him being a tiny little baby when we painted it and how long it has been his room. But we're all so excited for Jemma to get here. Jaxon likes the new room also and of course he still loves his room. He's still in the phase of wanting to keep it clean. We'll see how long that lasts!

The Big Brother is Ready!

Photobucket

Jaxon has been wanting a big brother shirt for a long time but when we're out shopping I haven't seen any. So finally I ordered one online. I knew he'd been wanting one bad so I couldn't wait to show him. I let him wear it once to school and told him he'd have to wait until after Jemma was here to wear it again so it'll look nice for pictures. I was also lucky to get one in his 2 favorite colors.

We got one for Jemma too.

Jemma's Baby Shower

On Tuesday, March 1 some of the teachers held a baby shower for me and 2 others that are pregnant and due right around the same time. I felt so bad for everyone having to buy 3 gifts at the same time. They did a great job with all the work they had to do with 3 and it looked fantastic. It was held in the grade school cafeteria after school. Again, I didn't really want to be in pictures but I did for the memories so I guess I'll share. I especially hate being photographed pregnant next to these 2 skinny first time moms but what are you going to do.

Jemma's table full of gifts. The support we got was amazing!

Jaxon was excited he got to attend. Here is waiting with Blake and his friend Derek whose mom also works at the school.

They had a different cupcake frosting color for each of us that went with the theme to our baby's room. Mine were the purple ones.

I don't have a picture but Jaxon did a great job of bringing presents to me and helping me open them. He had a great time and even got a few presents of his own from those that thought he needed something also.

First Pics with Jaxon and Jemma

I don't really like having my picture taken especially while pregnant. But I want to preserve memories so I thought it would be cute to have Jaxon take pictures with my pregnant belly. To check out the pictures click here.

The cowboy hat and motorcycle pictures were all his idea. He has his own definite ideas when it comes to photo shoots.

For those that don't know Julie Mead is my mom and she has started her own photography business.

Go Fish

Jaxon's new favorite game to play is Go Fish. What's funny is how mad he gets if you ask for something he already asked for. He is just now getting the idea that I didn't have that card before until I drew it. He also gets frustrated when you keep asking for the same card that he "already told you he didn't have!" He's starting to get it better now. It's helping him recognize his numbers quicker. You'd think it's an easy game to play but I kind of forgot some of the little rules so I've had to make them up as we go. So if you play with Jaxon and he plays it funny it's my fault.
