See you in a Week

We are heading out on vacation today. We are going to San Antonio for a few days then by College Station so my mom can take a photography class. I promise to have lots of blogs and pictures when we get back but there won't be anything up this week until we get back. I hope all goes well!
Jaxonism:
We were at my Granny's and Jaxon, of course, asked if he could strip down to his underwear. Granny said sure. Then Jaxon whispered, "But I don't want Princess to see me!" Princess is my brother's housecat that my Granny is watching for a bit. It's ok if people see him in his underwear but not the cat!

Art in the Park

Yes I'm behind again! Art in the Park was held last Saturday in Satanta. It is usually held in the park across from the Methodist Church but we had a lot of rain so it was held in the community building. It was actually really nice in there because it was more contained. Jaxon loved the different games and went back multiple times to the mini-golf.

By the end of the night he had multiple tattoos. Of course the first one was Spongebob.

I should have had a video of him trying to hula. It was hilarious! He would just shake back and forth.

Corn on the Cob

One of the best things about summer is corn on the cob! Jaxon has been wanting some so I got some from Dillons. That is usually something I never do because it is best from the field but I thought we'll get it this once. It was actually pretty good.
Jaxon remembers Granny teaching him 2 summers ago how to shuck it and get it ready to be cooked. He loves the whole process.

Boxes of Fun

We got some stuff in a box that was just the right size for Jaxon to get into. Amazing what one box can become. It has been a shower, bath, robot, airplane, house, and who knows what else. Remind me again why we buy toys?
I haven't gotten any pics. I've not been as good taking pics because I'm mad at my camera because they look bad and the computer because it isn't letting me upload them to Kodak gallery.
Jaxonism:
We were going out to eat last night and I put lipstick on. Jaxon was trying to give me a kiss to get my lipstick on his lips. I told him that lipstick was for girls. He said, "What do boys put on then?"
Daddy says chapstick but Jaxon's not convinced.

Catching Up

There hasn't been a whole lot going on which is kind of nice so I haven't felt I've had a lot to blog. Let's see what's been going on - we've been painting the living room. Those that have been in our house know that unfortunately if we want to paint the living room we have to paint the kitchen so it's a pretty big project. Plus our walls are textured so it takes forever! (Maybe that's a little exaggeration!)
Friday we went to the church to cook because our Sunday school class was doing a fundraising meal on Sunday for a shoe project - click here to read about it. Saturday we went to Garden to get some curtain rods for our new curtains - love them. Sunday was the dinner then the kids went to Howie's to play with their pool that was a gift from Gardners. Blake went back to the farm to work. This will probably be his last week or he may have a few days next week. My mom came Sunday and left today.
Monday was a doctor's appointment for Jaxon in Garden to get his physical so he can go to preschool. It went pretty well but we are going to look into what we can do for his umbilical hernia that never completely closed. He also had to get shots. This was his first shots in a long time so I don't think he remembers the others he's had. When I told him what was going on, he wasn't really concerned. The nurse said that Mommy will give you a "hug" while she gave him the shots. He was kind of flirting with the nurse being silly until the first shot then he said, "Ow!" and gave her a look that said, "How could you?" Then he started crying. But he was a pretty good boy and didn't jerk around or try to push her away. He had to get 4 shots in his legs. It didn't take him too long to quit crying but he still had a hurt puppy dog look. I told him he did pretty good and that when Mommy was little she cried a lot more when she got shots. So now he is telling everyone that Mommy cried so I have to explain the whole story.

Jaxon and Papa's Birthday Party

We finally celebrated Jaxon's 4th Birthday with family on July 5 which happens to be my Papa's birthday so we had the celebration together at my Granny's. In attendance: Mommy, Daddy, Grandma, Grandpa, Mamaw, Papaw, Granny, Papa, and Granny's cousins - Bob, Darlene, and Larry. I told you - super spoiled!
Jaxon could hardly wait so we dove into presents first and he was excited about all of them. I was so out of order because we usually do cake first that I almost cut it without lighting it and singing Happy Birthday.
Later we went outside to watch Jaxon ride his new bicycle (from my parents) and eat snow cones (gift from Blake's parents).

4th of July 2009/Jaxon's Cake

For the 4th we had a Wheaton family reunion in Hutchinson in the morning so we stayed the night before in a hotel. Wheatons are on my Granny's side. Her dad was a Wheaton and had 8 brothers and sisters (I think). All of them had a bunch of kids and on down. Granny had 35 first cousins! I have 4 first cousins. So there were a ton of cousins. It was interesting to hear the old stories and see pics of the family through the years.
We left around 1 to go to my parent's house. I had to finish getting Jaxon's Spongebob birthday cake ready.I had to frost the cake at Granny's house because my parent's A/C was on the fritz and upon return from Hutchinson found a bunch of things not working because of a bad lightning storm.
He had just said a yellow cake so I asked him if he wanted Spongebob since he likes him too and he said yes. Thank goodness I asked him what he wanted the cake to look like because when I showed him a picture of Spongebob he started pointing out what he didn't want. I was planning to make it a little more involved than what he wanted so it ended up easier on me. We did have a little glitch because he wanted it all yellow so I said I'll just make you a yellow cake but he wanted it to look like Spongebob. I know it is hard to reason with a 4 year old but I was not about to take time to work on this cake then have him crying about it saying he only wanted yellow or something. I showed him that it would be yellow (no brown pants) but that I needed to put black lines to outline it. Well that set him off. I tried to compromise and say the lines could be any color he wanted but he said he wanted them yellow. I tried to show him with markers what happens when we make yellow lines then color around them - all we see is yellow. He wasn't having it. Finally, I'm not really sure how, but we came to a consensus. So the cake does look a little funny but this is what he wanted and I figured it was his cake. (And his request were actually easier than what I would have attempted.) Oh and of course the inside of the cake was - you guessed it - yellow!

Here is the cake:

I chickened out and my mom frosted it for me. I did the rest though.

That night we went to Lewis for their 4th of July picnic and fireworks show. The show was pretty good and just the right amount of time. Jaxon really enjoyed the show and kept saying, "Oooh, that's my favorite color!" for all of them. Afterward, we went to my Granny's house to let off our own fireworks. Jaxon's favorites were Sparklers and the ones you throw down that pop.

Love/Hate Cats

Here's what the title means:
Jaxon loves cats/kittens.
Mommy hates cats/kittens.

We've been on the farm most of the summer and of course they have new kittens. Jaxon has to see them everyday and loves to play with them. I do not like cats - AT ALL. So he does a pretty good job of keeping them away from me and not bugging me with them (we'll see how he is when he's older).
Before I was born my Granny used to have cats in the house. We've always had cats on the farm while I was growing up for obvious reasons to kill mice but they've been outside cats. Well now Granny is letting Jaxon bring the kittens in the house - yuck! I'm sorry but they are not cute to me at all. I hate their whiny meows and feeling all their little bones when you pick them up - gross! Give me a puppy any day.
I do however love watching Jaxon with them. He is so cute taking care of them and wrapping them in blankets. I will never love cats but I can tolerate them when I watch Jaxon with them. But we'll never have cats in my house - so don't bring them over!
Here are some pics of Jaxon taking care of the kittens. We need to get a puppy so he can put that love towards an animal I enjoy also.

By the way the yellow blanket was my baby blanket at Granny's and has been for all the grandkids and great grandkids. Poor Blanket!

Jaxon's Birthday continued

As I already said - Jaxon's birthday has been unending this month. Here are some pics from his actual birthday (June 30). He made some cupcakes in the morning with Grandma. He was a little upset that the cake wasn't yellow like the icing but in my family we tend to think the only flavor is chocolate and that's it. He is more into the color of it than the taste. He only ate the frosting off of the ones he had anyway.
We finished harvest up on his birthday around 2 p.m. so we had the cupcakes that night to celebrate harvest being over too!
