We did something we don't usually get to do on Spring Break - took a vacation! We were so excited! We went to Coco Key in Kansas City. Coco Key is a water park that is attached to a Holiday Inn that we stayed at. They have a package deal for both. We stayed for 2 nights and played at the water park for 3 days. We left on Sunday, March 17 and came back Tuesday, March 19.
Ready to hit the road.
Jaxon was excited to sit in the back and have his own space. I totally understand. My parents had a minivan then suburban growing up and my brother and I each took a whole row. There is no way I would have survived those trips in the same row! Actually one time we went with Granny and Papa in their car to Texas but it is different with grandparents.
Jemma getting to her "phone" right away. There are a pile of books and toys in a bag beside her to keep her entertained. Also food underneath her for the munchies.
Thank goodness for iPods! I wish they had that stuff when I was little.
We stopped at the Cozy Inn in Salina for lunch. I had never been there but heard about it. It is literally a side where you walk in, a bar where about 6 people can sit and then behind that is the kitchen where they take your order. Most people get their order to go but it was a cold, rainy day so we didn't want to go outside. Fortunately we got there when seats were available but it was tight quarters while people were ordering. All they have are hamburgers, chips, and pop. You tell them how many you want, they're very small, and they make them all the same - no cheese and onions are inside the meat. There is ketchup and mustard at the bar if you want. I thought they were pretty good but the kids didn't like them very much. I didn't like onions at all when I was little either. Jaxon and Blake are such babies, they had to leave because they couldn't handle the onion smell! Boys!
Jaxon outside. I will have to get my ipad pics on here to show the inside. Blake took the digital camera outside.
We got to the motel sometime around 2 or 3. They have some great packages so we went with the 2 nights inclusive package which included bags for the kids, free pass for next time, food vouchers and more. It was a good thing to have the first time to try out the food. We found out the service and food wasn't that great, especially for the price. But the inclusive deals we got were worth far more than the extra $30. Next time though we will just bring more of our own food or go to down to McDonalds that was really close.
Excited to get out of the car.
Kids with their bags.
We were right across from Kauffman Stadium and Arrowhead. They have package deals where you get Royals tickets. Definitely hope to do that sometime!
