Lego Party!
We debated awhile on what to do for Jaxon's birthday. I told him we could do something with just friends and a then have a family party but he wanted it all together. We had some friends have a skating party a few years ago and since Jaxon has wanted to do that even though we don't go skating very often. So the only place that has a skating rink close is in Pratt which is where Blake's parents live. They are only open on Tuesdays and Thursdays 8-11 p.m. so we ended up having it July 2 since the week before we were still in harvest and the Thursday after would have been the 4th. When I called the guy did warn me that they don't have air conditioning but we lucked out because it was unseasonably cool that day like in the 70s/80s!
So we invited 6 boys and 5 were able to make it, loaded up the cars and headed to Pratt. We ordered Pizza Hut and took it to the park at 7. I figured that would be easier to let them play as they get done eating rather than trying to make them behave in a restaurant.
Granny and Papa.
I snuck away and set things up at the skating rink with my dad then we went back to round them up.
Lacing up.
Not sure why Uncle D had to pose with the decorations.
Lego cake
Jaxon helped decorate for his party by making lego stuff to take. He made a maze that he was going to have the boys get through then give them some coins when they got through. They were all too busy though. He also made a napkin holder.
Oh my gosh the skating! So none of the boys were accomplished skaters. They had these little walker looking things out of PVC pipes and they looked like a bunch of little old men but they kept falling over. Thank goodness the owners son was out there and was a good skater. He kept skating over and helping them back up. I was the only adult that skated and it has been awhile for me also so I wasn't much help for the boys. It took me a little bit to get my bearings but even then I wasn't that good so I was just trying to stay out of their way and kept yelling at them not to make me fall. They were troopers though, they all just kept getting up and trying. I remember those days faintly of falling and not being impossibly sore afterwards.
Jemma checking it out with Grandpa.
They had these old school Fisher-Price skates for Jemma. She skated a little but wanted to do it all on her own. I helped her some but she did best when someone without skates helped her.
Taking a break for cake and presents.
He was sweating!
Jaxon said the cake was good but I think they were so tired from the skating they didn't eat very much. They downed all the water I brought though.
That's your dad kids!

I did awesome not falling while skating but right after this picture I fell while holding Jemma. I have no idea how it happened just whoop! down I went. Ouch!
My mom had my camera.
One last round.
Time to go home.
I can't believe my baby is 8!
