Harvest was late this year which was unusual since last year we were done before Father's Day. This year we didn't know if we would be able to be done by the Fourth of July! We did finish before the fourth and even before Jaxon's June 30 Birthday which is always fun to try to plan each year with harvest. Blake helped on the farm all of June and into July. He drives truck mostly during harvest but also did grain cart and combine a little. He just goes where he's needed. I was in charge of organizing meals. A job my mom was glad to pass on. Fortunately for me, mom and Granny still help a lot so I don't have to do all of it. It also helps that if the guys are near the house then they take turns coming to eat in shifts so that is always 2 or 3 days that we don't have to haul everything out to the field.
We had to take the Expedition for the car seat and we take Papa's pickup so we can put the chairs and tables in there. We'd prefer only one vehicle but it didn't work out this year with space. Also we had the added challenge of Granny not being as mobile because she had surgery on her right foot so she couldn't drive but it all worked out. I know it drove her nuts to not be able to do what she usually does.

Jemma loved riding the combine! The first time I rode with her she started crying but I talked her through it then she didn't want to get off. Every day she wanted to ride combine. She got to where she didn't have to have me ride with her even.
Jemma did this a bunch this summer not just in the field. She would go to her side of the car and sit on the running boards and wait. This picture doesn't show how cute it was but at least I got one.
