The last 2 weeks of June, Jaxon took swimming lessons in Larned. I checked in Kinsley but they didn't know if they would even have them so I thought we would go ahead and get them over with for the summer since we're more tied down here in June and in July after harvest we can go do stuff. I didn't realize it was for 2 weeks at the time. So the timing of that with harvest and then a class that I had to take in Hays thrown in there also, made for a crazy end to June. (Oh and DP games also!)
I wasn't sure what their levels meant so we started Jaxon at a 2 then quickly realized he needed to move up. I'm glad that we did move him. They worked in the 4 ft where he could just touch but they taught them different strokes and did a lot of swimming. They also worked on diving in the deep end.
Jemma wanting to do what Bubbie does. They did some stretching every day before they got in the pool. Jemma did a really good job considering she was too young for lessons and didn't get to get in the pool. My friend, Amy, had her son Kipton who couldn't go to lessons either so we would take turns taking the kids to the park nearby if they got antsy. We also brought lots of snacks to keep them happy.
Jaxon's friend Kolby was also taking lessons so one day we stayed after lessons and kept Kolby. We ate Subway the played at the park until the pool reopened.
Checking out the ducks and turtles in the little pond.
It was such a windy day and I had to keep up with Jemma so I didn't get any pictures in the pool but they had a good time. The boys spent most of the time going off the diving board and then going down the slide once they turned it on. Jemma is a little fish and goes everywhere in her little jacket. She would swim, get out, swim, get out, go to the kids area, get out, swim, run away from me, eat snacks, etc...
The last day of swim lessons is a fun day. They did the test on Thursday so Friday they played in the deep end, went off the board, went down the slide, and had food and drinks for them.
Jemma trying to get to the food.
Jaxon loves going off the board. Of course we started this summer being unsure but that is why we have lessons. He will try stuff with other people that he will say he is too scared of with us.
He could do this all day also.
Jaxon did a great job at lessons! He thinks he knows it all but we'll keep going so he can get even better and more confidant.
