Shrine Circus

On February 8, the Lewis Grade School went to the Shrine Circus in Dodge City. The first grade teacher and her husband bought tickets for everyone so it was free. We left at 2:30. Once we got there we went to a side room to eat then the show started around 4:30. It was really pretty good considering it was in Dodge City. Jaxon loved it! Blake got to go also. They asked if he could go so they would have another male chaperone since most of the teacher's are women. Jemma stayed with my parent's until we got back around 9.

The tigers. NOT my favorite. I don't like house cats so I'm not cool being so close to these.

Oops! I'm Getting Older...

Oh yeah, I skipped over my birthday. I don't want to be ashamed of my age...yet, so here are pics from my birthday on February 7. I turned 31. Officially INTO my 30's now. Before you know it, I will look back and think of this as so young.

(Side note, we met Blake's parent's in Pratt the weekend before my birthday to celebrate his dad's and my birthdays but of course I forgot my camera. And honestly who wants a posts with no pictures!)

Here are some pics of my birthday dinner at the farm. On the menu - spaghetti as usual. It has to be some kind of Italian food and pasta for this gal. I also requested a red velvet cake WITH Waldorf Astoria frosting. It's seriously way better than cream cheese frosting on it. I love chocolate, chocolate, chocolate but my mom used to make this cake for Valentine's Day usually in a heart shape. I have made it for my birthday to take to school when we lived in Satanta but this year I didn't want to make it myself. It was delicious!

The cake! Yes, it is a lot of candles - deal with it!

Me and my girl! Yes I look kind of gross because I worked out and didn't have time to shower before. I'm proud that I didn't let my birthday be an excuse to not work out so there!

Wolf Scout Bowling

On February 15, we took the Wolf Scouts bowling in Larned so they could get their bowling belt loops. We left around 5:30 and went to eat at Subway first.

Here are the scouts (L to R) Michael, Jaxon, and Gustavo.

Everyone's families went also and we had the bowling alley all to ourselves until the end. Michael and Gustavo had never been bowling and part of the requirements was learning the rules so we went over those first then got started. The adults and other family members played also.

This was an exhausting trip for Blake and I because it was a Friday after school and Jemma was being a handful. She wanted to bowl the whole time! I didn't plan on her bowling at all so we already had the boys on a lane and the adults on another. So Blake and I would try to take turns letting her bowl on our turns. (Our scores were horrible! I actually wasn't doing real great on my own so it was a good excuse.) But she was not happy unless she was bowling the whole time! I tried to get some snacks and divert her attention but she wasn't having it. Finally I took her over to where they had arcade games and let her "play" on those and Blake bowled for me. It helped a little but she was not forgetting about that bowling. I don't think she'll be going bowling again until she's 5!

I was talking to the owners when I was trying to keep Jemma distracted and I told them we were bowling for a belt loop for Scouts so they said they'd take them to the back and let them see how it all worked if the boys could keep their hands in and not touch so they wouldn't get hurt. So Blake took them back and I watched Jemma. He said it was really neat. It was built in the 50's and still works.

2nd Nine Weeks Awards

Sorry it took me so long to post this. They gave awards for 2nd nine weeks grades in January but I didn't have my camera so I got them from another teacher which meant they were on my email so it took me awhile to remember when I was at home to get them uploaded on here.

We're so proud of Jaxon! He made All A's! He worked really hard and was proud of himself!
