May 14 was play day at school. Kindergarten has theirs in the morning in Macksville. Then we came back and ate our packed lunches outside with the other classes. In the afternoon is play day for 1st - 6th and Macksville came over to Lewis. Since I wanted to watch Jaxon and most everyone else was busy with play day, I offered to switch with Jaxon's second grade teacher. Maybe that wasn't the best idea since I didn't know how play day went in Lewis since it was my first year but we survived.
Waiting for it to start.
Blake took a day off of school and brought Jemma to watch. Jaxon loves to show her off.
Grandma and Grandpa came to watch. Granny and Papa came also but they stayed in the shades up in the stands. It was really hot that day.
The way they do it is you get to choose 3 events and one of them is a fun event. When I was helping Jaxon pick he didn't pick a running event. I kept asking him over and over if he was sure and understood that he wasn't running. He said he was fine. So they started with running events and Jaxon wanted to know what he was running. Figures! So I had to explain he didn't choose one and he was bummed. Thankfully though they all did a relay so we got to see him run. He is getting pretty fast but still kind of awkward because he grew a lot this year.
Long Jump was the event Jaxon was insistent that he wanted to do.
He was right. He did great! He got first in second grade.
This is where I messed up too for taking Jaxon's class. I thought we would all go together to events but the football toss and softball throw were at the same time in different places. So I had to take the girls to softball since there were more parents to take the boys to football. Blake took pictures. They had to throw the ball at a target. Jaxon didn't place but got a participation ribbon.
At the end they did the fun events. Jaxon chose to do the three-legged race. He was partners with a girl in his class, Tara.
It was a fun but exhausting day! (At least it was for me.)
