Granny's Dance
Yesterday Jaxon had a lot of fun with Granny and Papa. They watched him since his babysitter had to go to the doctor. They were busy reading books, watching movies, and playing in the snow. Today I also learned another game they played. Jaxon has always been a kid (even as a baby) that likes things a certain way. When someone does something with him then he thinks it should be exactly the same way each time and will let you know if it's not. We were downstairs playing and he wanted to play with a beach ball on the stairs - just like he did with Granny. I had to stand (not sit) at the bottom of the stairs while he goes to the top and throws down the ball. Then, just like Granny did, I had to bounce my head as the ball bounces then pick up the ball and do a little dance. I wish I could have had a video of the dance so I could post it. They said he was pretty good and was taking a nap when I got home. Of course, as soon as I got home he started being a grouch but at least he's good for others.
I finally gave up and put my pictures on our other computer and guess what they all transferred! I don't know what the problem is with the computer upstairs but I'll just use this one for now. So here are all the photos from our spring snowstorm. Some are repeats but you can see that there were a lot more than what was there originally.
Here is Jaxon going crazy ready to go outside to play in the snow while we tried to keep him in while it was coming down so hard.

Sledding in the Snow!
Saturday we went out in the snow and travelled great distances (across town) to go sledding at the Howies. Brent got out the 4-wheeler and the plan was to sled in a lot across from their house. The snow was too deep and wet so the 4-wheeler kept getting stuck. Instead we went out on the street (small town so it's OK) in a little saucer sled. The kids had a blast! They had snowball fights, made snow angels, and went sledding for hours in the snow. All of us moms totally forgot about sunscreen but fortunately Jaxon didn't get burned which is surprising with his super fair skin he got from his dad. I think the dads had as much fun as the kids building ramps with the snow and driving around. The moms were on hot chocolate duty.
I am getting really mad at my camera. I took a lot more pictures but for some reason not all are transferring and I can't get it figured out. So here are the pictures that transferred.
Jaxonism:
Skip the movie for me while I go poop! (We finally translated skip to mean pause the movie. We haven't done a good job of getting him to say pause so only we know what he means.)
Julie (Jaxon's babysitter) possibly has pink eye so she is going to the doctor tomorrow. One of the kids at daycare has pink eye so we're crossing our fingers that Jaxon doesn't get it. Fortunately Granny and Papa came to watch him so we don't have to take a day!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas - Wait, It's March!
So the snowstorm definitely did hit. We are in the middle of it right now. We've got quite a few drifts and it's still coming down. The bonus is no school today - YEAH! The negative is that it ruined our plans to go to Kansas City this weekend and see old college friends - boooo! We'll just have to make the best of it. We still have electricity - so far! Hopefully we can get a lot done this weekend like putting up our new microwave. I'm so excited because it will open up some counter space. I know dumb things make me excited.
We are being lazy parents right now trying to put off going out in the snow even though Jaxon is dying to go. We'll get out there sometime but it is such a pain to get all the snow gear on and we'll probably only be out for 5 minutes. It is coming down really hard with a lot of wind.
I hope I don't sound too grouchy. I really do love snow and snow days off from school but I was hoping for this during winter. I guess beggers can't be choosers. We are planning to get together with friends (in town) to gripe about the snow messing up our weekend plans.
Jaxonism:
Look at the "shootgun" I made mommy!
shootgun = shotgun
Here are some snow pics as of 1 p.m.

Kiss my butt lips!
Here's another Jaxonism:
Mommy look at my butt lips!
Jaxon was getting ready for a bath and said look at my butt lips! I finally figured out he had heard butt cheeks somewhere but had changed it to butt lips. So we have a new saying around here.
On another good note we got some rain. Stacey and I were doing really good exercising for 3 days in a row. We thought since today was supposed to be the only nice day that we would walk. So we got the stroller and everything ready and then it rains. Figures. Of course, by the time we decided to quit walking it quit raining about 5 minutes later. Oh well, at least it was a good effort.

Back to School
We went back to school today so Jaxon went back to Julie's. He was actually excited to go this morning which was nice. Lately he has been waking up in the morning and comes running in our room asking if he has to go to Julie's today and when we tell him yes he starts crying. I guess he just needed a break because he was excited to see his friend Julie and his other friends. After school I exercised with my friend Stacey King and took Jaxon with me. Her daughter is one of Jaxon's "girlfriends" so he was really excited and even got to go to their house afterwards. I met Stacey at the church to pick up Jaxon because we had a Relay for Life meeting. We let the kids play in the park for a little bit. Stacey's husband Chris was working on putting up some playground equipement - see 21st Time Class blog. Jaxon was cranky because he had to leave so Chris let him be the first to go down one of the slides. He was pretty excited.
Side Note: I am worried that we will forget all of the funny things Jaxon has said - I know I've already forgot some. So periodically I will post funny sayings that he said. They may not translate to print very well though because the best part is how he says them.
Jaxonism:
"I can't be scared of the slide."
Jaxon's new favorite place to color. Yes, he is in his underwear because he likes to strip down the second we get home.

Fun Times with the Chances
We had a lot of fun with our friends the Chances. They came on Thursday night then left on Saturday at noon. They had to go all the way to KC so they had a big trip ahead of them. Yesterday we went out Garden City then went bowling and to the zoo. The kids had a blast! When we got home Blake and Shawn went golfing so it was a big day. In fact we were so exhausted we were pooped - literally we had poop on the floor. The boys were getting their fingers into it so there was no rest for the weary adults. Logan and Jaxon were really funny together. They had a good time and quickly became friends then they became really good friends who act like brothers. They started tattling on each other and arguing. This morning we all walked down to the park to play. It was a really nice day today so we had to enjoy it with the boys.
After they left, we all took naps to catch back up. Later Blake and I were working in the yard spreading mulch in places that had lost some. I hope that something grows this year. Last year we did a little landscaping but I don't think I have a green thumb so hopefully something will grow. The soil out here and the lack of rain isn't the best for plants either so I hope to stay on top of it. We'll see. (fingers crossed)

It's a Slinky!
We are in the middle of enjoying our time with our friends the Chances. We have a ton of pics of the boys together so I'll post some tomorrow after they leave when I have more time. I just wanted to do a quick post before I forgot. The other day we were shopping in Garden and Jaxon started telling me he wanted his own flicker. ??? I tried to get him to explain what he was talking about and he kept saying flicker and flicking his hands back and forth. Finally when we got home he found his flicker - it was a slinky! Sorry I'm his mom and I think that is too cute so I thought I'd share.

Lazy Days! Fence Finally Done!
Well we are officially in spring break mode. After Blake finished the fence today - Yeah! We just laid around being lazy. Even though I have a million things I want to get done, I am enjoying the time to relax because I am sure the last nine weeks of school will be super busy. Blake is coaching junior high track and I have a big Fairy Tale unit planned for my first graders which is so much fun but a lot of work. I love this unit because it covers all of my standards so well and it is fun and engaging learning which I believe makes for long-term learning. I know this doesn't seem that exciting to most but it's what I do so I've got to be a little excited about it. Next week we study Cinderella which everyone knows so we study many different versions. Ok here I go again - moving on.
The biggest happening of the day is the fence is done! This is our 4th year here living in Satanta and we have this huge yard. Being farm kids, we love the huge yard and didn't see a need for a fence since we never had one. Living in town, we quickly learned how much we wanted and needed one. Blake started in November and the long process is finally done! Hopefully I'll get some progression pics up but my camera is acting funny.
We are getting ready for some college friends to come visit - the Chance's. We always have a lot of fun together so we're excited to have them come visit from Riley. They have 3 boys so there will be a lot of testosterone. Shauna and I might have to escape for awhile. Last time we did that though and left the husbands with the kids they claimed that the instant the door was shut the kids all started screaming. We think it is just a ploy to make us stay though.

Here We Go!
Ok here it goes! I am really bummed that I can't get the cool header my mom made to center but if I wait until I figure out how to fix it I might never get this going. Anyway I am planning on using this to record the regular day to day happenings like a journal. Mostly because Jaxon is growing up so fast and I forget all the cute things he does. Hopefully I'll remember to write it down now so I can go back later and remember when. I've never been good at diaries so hopefully I can keep up with this. I do like typing better than writing. My Grandpa (Papa) writes in his journal every night. His grandpa started it and I'm not sure when my papa continued it but there are many journals. It recounts basic happenings but it is really cool to go back and see when I was born and other stuff. It is also good to settle arguments of when things happened as people get older and memories go. So I want do something for my family but with a 21st century edge.
We are on spring break right now and enjoying the awesome weather. I am so glad that the yucky weather was last week so we can enjoy this time outside with Jaxon. Also Blake is working on getting our fence done right now as I write so I will post some pics later. We are so excited to have a fence this summer now that Jaxon is older. So hopefully I can send him outside while I finishing cooking or something without fear of him getting run over. We live on the edge of town so people seem to zip even faster around the corners without looking. I fortunately have a window in the kitchen looking into the backyard.
Yesterday we were on the farm (my family's farm in Lewis, KS) and got to do some kite flying. Jaxon was really excited for about 5 minutes then let Daddy and I fly while he started picking up rocks.
Oh well, it was only $3 and kept Blake and I entertained for awhile. Then my dad came out and said since it was such nice weather Blake and him should go golfing. Fine with me as long as I don't have to do it. I just like driving the cart while having a beverage. Maybe someday I will learn but I get frustrated really easy and am too competitive to just enjoy it.
Jaxon was combing my dad's hair the other night and asked him where some of his hair went (bald spot). Dad said that Uncle D (my brother Dustin) took it out. Jaxon said that he needed to put it back then. If only it were that easy Jaxon!
